About Us

MVLS provides free (and in some cases low cost) legal representation to Marylanders with limited income. We also provide free legal help for community-based nonprofits that are working to strengthen low-income communities in Maryland.

Each eligible individual client is matched with a volunteer lawyer who has the appropriate skills and expertise to provide quality representation. With a volunteer pool of 3,000 lawyers, MVLS provides services in every jurisdiction in the state.

  • Saturday’s Pro Bono Day is Canceled, will be Rescheduled for June 20th

    Due to logistical concerns about building access on Saturday, Baltimore City Pro Bono Day has been rescheduled, and it will be held on Saturday June 20th, from 9am-12pm.  A new registration link will be set up soon.

  • City’s Tax Sale Policies Heighten Vacancy Problems

    Baltimore City may be contributing to its problem with vacancies. City codes are pushing homeowners out of their homes over as little as $250 in unpaid property taxes or $350 in unpaid water bills through an often opaque process known as “tax sales.” Read the full article.
