Awards Reception

On September 28, 2005, Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS) hosted its annual awards reception in honor of its many volunteers and sponsors. Without the support of these valuable partners, MVLS would not be able to provide its much-needed services to the working poor throughout all of Maryland. Last year a total of 809 lawyers took pro bono cases to provide services valued at over $2.3 million.

At the reception, The Honorable Martin P. Welch from the Baltimore Juvenile Justice Center spoke compellingly about the need for pro bono representation of low-income children.
