VOLUNTEER
Since 1981, MVLS has been helping the working poor of Maryland. We provide legal services to low-income individuals through our core pro bono programs and assist community-based nonprofits that are working to strengthen low-income communities in Maryland through our Community Development Project.
MVLS invites you to join our statewide network of volunteer lawyers who make pro bono count for nearly 4,000 Maryland residents each year. Click here to volunteer. Our volunteer attorneys work in private practice, corporations and government. Annually, close to 1,000 lawyers volunteer their time that is valued at over $3 million.
Whether you are just starting out or are already established, pro bono work will give you the opportunity to make a difference in our community, network with others in the legal profession and the potential to grow. MVLS offers a variety of opportunities for lawyers interested in utilizing their valuable skills to help some of Maryland’s most vulnerable individuals and organizations serving low-income communities.
Our pro bono program operates statewide with the exception of Montgomery, Prince George’s and Allegany counties where our services are limited to handling tax disputes, denial of public benefits and representing non-profit organizations. The pro bono activities in Montgomery, Prince George’s and Allegany counties are managed by other organizations.
